Segundo is a driven coffee producer, with his passion involving the processing of high quality specialty coffees. He works directly with Juan Peña at the famous Hacienda La Papaya as the team leader for wet processing and coffee drying. The sophistication of the processing of their coffees has led to a collaborative research project with the University of Cuenca.
Segundo is the father of six children, working closely with his wife Hilda and one of their sons, Darwin. Currently their small farm, 20 miles south of Saraguro, at an altitude of 2,000 meters, solely produces Typica. They've recently planted Geisha, Pacamara and Sidra and will have a very small productions in 2021.
Their coffees have won international awards and have been used in numerous competitions. The product is consistently high quality with focus on making continuous improvements year over year.
Currently, the Typica sees great success produced in a natural style, with temperature and humidity controlled drying rooms, that were designed and executed by Segunda and Juan Peña.
This lot is produced by Segundo Cartuche and processed at Hacienda La Papaya. In your branding and marketing, we request you utilize both names.
